As theadvance plans for growth we have become aware of the difficulty some people find in connecting within such a large group. For many people the size of the group can be intimidating and often these quieter individuals either stay unconnected or simply stop coming out. In order for connection to occur for some people it needs to happen within the context of a smaller group. For some, the answer is exactly that; a traditional small group setting, but for many people in our culture this is equally intimidating. The jump from the large group of theadvance Worship to the intimacy of a traditional small group is too much for many people. Since community is such a large value to us, we have developed what we’re calling our “mid-sized community groups”. These groups will be separated by grades: a 9&10 group, an 11&12 group and a Young Adult group.
Student ministry provides us with the privilege of working with students during an incredibly formative period in their lives. The changes that take place, physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially during the period from Grade 9 to the end of their University careers are enormous and our mid-sized groups are designed to help facilitate that growth.
